In this role, you will lead and grow a high-performing team overseeing our current control system while driving the development of a modular, scalable next-generation control system platform. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our control system hw architecture, advancing system engineering practices, and fostering technical growth across the team.
Your expertise will support strategic planning and the development of people, process and technology to ensure agility, continuous improvement and overall technical leadership. The position is full-time and the contract is permanent. You will work at Sandvik’s Turku site, which is the main product development and manufacturing center for our Load and Haul equipment. Due to the managerial nature of the role only occasional remote work is possible.
Your role – R&D Manager, System Engineering
Our cross-functional team focuses on developing Control System Platform for underground loaders and trucks. We are a collaborative and diverse group committed to advancing technology in the mining sector and continuously improving how our machines operate. As R&D Manager for the System Engineering team your key responsibilities include:
Lead system engineering for the control system platform to keep it fit‑for‑purpose, scalable, and future‑ready.
Support individual growth and strengthen team capabilities.
Provide technical leadership, ensuring high quality standards and continuous improvement.
Ensure long‑term business goals are captured in a clear technical roadmap while providing direction and communicating decisions across stakeholders.
Your background and what we find important
Strong people leadership and change-management skills
Experience in embedded system engineering, with optional exposure to modular system design.
Proactive, structured problem-solver with strong collaboration skills
Experience working in agile R&D with a focus on incremental delivery and learning.
Knowledge of machine control systems, electric powertrains, or BEVs is an advantage
Engineering degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.); fluent English, and Finnish proficiency appreciated.
